Eat App’s dynamic Growth Strategy in India’s Expanding Restaurant Reservation Sector

Fueling Expansion Through Strategic Investments and Alliances

Dubai-based Eat App has sharpened its focus on the Indian market by securing significant funding, executing targeted acquisitions, and forging critical partnerships to deepen its presence in the country’s flourishing restaurant reservation industry.Recently, the company raised an additional $10 million in a Series B extension round led by PSG Equity via Zenchef SAS, surpassing its initial $6 million Series B raise from 2022.This latest capital injection pushes Eat App’s total funding beyond $23 million.

A Decade of Global Operations wiht Renewed Emphasis on India

With over ten years of experience operating across 92 countries,Eat App currently supports more than 5,000 restaurants worldwide and boasts an annual recurring revenue (ARR) exceeding $12 million. over the past year alone, India has become a strategic priority as eat App expanded its footprint to serve upwards of 2,000 restaurants nationwide.

The Immense potential of India’s Food Service Market

The Indian food service sector is forecasted to exceed $85 billion by 2028, with dine-in experiences contributing over half this value. despite this rapid growth trajectory, many establishments still manage reservations through multiple platforms such as Zomato and Swiggy independently while relying heavily on walk-in customers-highlighting significant room for streamlined booking solutions.

Accelerating Growth Through Acquisition and Collaboration

To fast-track expansion within India’s competitive landscape, Eat App acquired ReserveGo-a rival platform founded by Vijayan Parthasarathy in 2022 that was already servicing more than 1,000 restaurants at acquisition time. ReserveGo demonstrated remarkable operational resilience by handling an average of five million monthly reservations without downtime throughout the previous year.

This acquisition complements another key partnership: teaming up with Swiggy-the leading food delivery giant recently listed on Indian stock exchanges-to jointly promote Eat App’s reservation management system branded as gromax. This integrated solution not only consolidates booking channels but also incorporates marketing tools enabling restaurants to advertise seamlessly across Meta platforms and Swiggy itself.

The Founders’ Expertise Driving Innovation Forward

Vijayan Parthasarathy brings extensive industry knowledge; prior to ReserveGo he developed Inrestro in 2014-a platform later acquired by Dineout (owned by Times Internet).Notably Swiggy purchased Dineout in 2022-further strengthening their foothold within restaurant technology ecosystems nationwide.

Navigating Competition and Industry Challenges Ahead

The Indian restaurant tech arena is densely populated with global players like SevenRooms and OpenTable alongside local competitors such as PetPooja and Posist. Additionally, numerous eateries continue relying solely on walk-ins or fragmented booking systems lacking unified data aggregation capabilities.

“The top-tier segment-approximately the top 200 restaurants-in India primarily operates through reservations,” explains Parthasarathy. “Though, thousands beyond them struggle managing capacity effectively across diverse channels.”

This fragmentation means standalone reservation software often falls short unless bundled into thorough growth suites delivering tangible business outcomes-a challenge that Eat App aims to overcome to cement its leadership position nationally.

Leveraging Dubai Experience To Propel Success In India

Before intensifying efforts in India’s market-which shares parallels with Dubai’s ecosystem nearly a decade ago-Eat App established itself as a foundational technology provider there. CEO Nezar Kadhem emphasizes how their scalable infrastructure built for GCC region restaurants informs their current approach:

“We observe strong similarities between India’s present stage and what we experienced eight or nine years ago in Dubai,” Kadhem states.”Our ambition is to replicate that success here alongside visionary local entrepreneurs like Vijayan.”

For viewpoint: Swiggy’s own Dineout platform managed approximately 23.8 million covers during calendar year 2025.
