“Following an internal review in 2025, we identified a small subset of returns where we issued a refund without the payment completing, or where we could not verify that the correct item had been sent back to us,” stated Amazon. “We began issuing refunds during 2025 and are providing additional compensation according to the settlement terms.”

This resolution comes after another significant legal outcome last year when Amazon agreed to pay $2.5 billion related to an FTC lawsuit accusing it of deceptive practices involving Prime subscriptions and cancellation difficulties.
