Tesla claimed the top four spots, showcasing its strong presence in American automotive production with assembly plants located in Texas and California.
Electric Vehicles Secure Most of the Leading Positions
This year’s AMI reveals that six out of the top ten vehicles are fully battery-electric models. Alongside Tesla’s dominant lineup, both the kia EV6 and Volkswagen ID.4 earned places at sixth and tenth respectively, illustrating how EVs are transforming domestic manufacturing priorities across multiple brands.

The index evaluates over 400 model-year 2025 vehicles using five critical factors: where final assembly occurs; percentage of parts sourced from U.S.or Canadian suppliers; countries supplying engines and transmissions; and employment levels within U.S.-based manufacturing workforces. this rigorous process produced a list of 99 cars meeting strict “American-made” criteria.

The Kia EV6 distinguishes itself by sourcing an extraordinary 80% of its components from suppliers in the United States and Canada-the highest ratio among all vehicles sold domestically today-even though it is assembled at Kia’s West Point, Georgia facility. Expanding presence of Electric Models on the AMI
