Even though Rangers currently trail Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts by 12 points, head coach Danny Röhl remains confident that his squad can still mount a serious challenge for the championship this season.

The next few weeks will test Rangers as they prepare to face Motherwell-who remain unbeaten in their last ten league games under new boss Jens Berthel Askou-followed by League Cup holders St Mirren at Ibrox. The New Year will then bring another high-profile encounter against Celtic Park on January 3rd during the traditional Old Firm derby.

“Motherwell are currently enjoying an impressive run,” Röhl noted. “It promises to be a tough fixture but also an chance to energize our fans and create an electric atmosphere at home over Christmas.”

Key Defensive Reinforcement: John Souttar’s Potential Return

The Scotland international defender has missed eight matches due to a muscle injury but has recently resumed training sessions. His comeback would strengthen defensive options amid ongoing absences such as Derek Cornelius’s injury and Nasser Djiga’s involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Souttar may not feature against Motherwell this Saturday but could be available when St Mirren visit Ibrox later this month.

“Just six or seven weeks ago no one was discussing us as title contenders,” Röhl admitted. “Now we feel its significance deeply; within eight games there’s genuine potential to reduce that points deficit substantially.”
