Global automotive giant Stellantis has formed a strategic alliance with Chinese autonomous driving pioneer pony.ai to bring robotaxi solutions specifically designed for European cities.
Integrating Electric Mobility with State-of-the-Art Autonomous systems
The collaboration will combine Pony.ai’s sophisticated self-driving software with Stellantis’ electric mid-size van platform. These vehicles are outfitted with advanced sensor suites engineered to enable fully autonomous driving capabilities in complex urban environments.
Launching Pilot Programs in Luxembourg
The initial rollout will focus on testing the Peugeot e-Traveller electric vans at Pony.ai’s european base in Luxembourg. Testing is slated to begin shortly, setting the stage for expanded robotaxi operations across several major European metropolitan areas by 2026.
Pony.ai’s Growing Presence adn Regulatory Milestones in Europe
This partnership builds on pony.ai’s recent collaboration with Uber, targeting robotaxi deployments throughout Europe and the Middle East. Earlier this year, Luxembourg became one of the first countries to grant an official autonomous vehicle testing permit to Pony.ai,reflecting strong regulatory support for their technology.
Financial Expansion and International Market strategy
Pony.ai continues its global growth beyond its extensive operations in China by pursuing a secondary public offering. Already listed on Nasdaq, the company aims for a dual listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange as part of efforts to attract diverse investors and accelerate technological advancements.
