Inside Berkshire Hathaway’s Annual Shareholders Gathering: Omaha’s Evolving Tradition
The sprawling CHI Health center in Omaha once again became the vibrant hub for Berkshire Hathaway’s Annual Shareholders Meeting, transforming into a bustling marketplace affectionately dubbed the “Berkshire Bazaar of Bargains.” Covering an impressive 20,000 square feet, this year’s event showcased exclusive products from across Berkshire’s extensive business empire. Notably, attendance was lighter than in previous years, resulting in shorter wait times and a more relaxed atmosphere.
New Leadership Takes Center Stage
For many years,Warren Buffett was the unmistakable figurehead of this gathering. However, following his retirement from daily operations at age 95, Greg Abel assumed the CEO position at the start of 2026 and emerged as the new focal point. Abel made a memorable impression by personally visiting every booth throughout the venue and engaging warmly wiht both employees and shareholders. His approachable demeanor drew enthusiastic crowds eager to meet him face-to-face.
Squishmallows drive Excitement Among Attendees
The beloved plush toy brand Squishmallows-acquired through berkshire’s 2022 purchase of Alleghany Corporation-continued to be a major crowd-pleaser. This year introduced an exclusive limited-edition plush modeled after Greg Abel himself. Adam Padawer, president of Jazwares (the company behind Squishmallows), emphasized Abel’s hands-on role in designing his own character figure. Beyond that, unique collaborations spanned other Berkshire brands including BNSF Railway, netjets, GEICO, and See’s Candies with special edition collectibles available only at the event.

Celebrating Brand Legacy Through Innovation
See’s Candies paid tribute to its rich history by offering themed chocolate assortments alongside playful cardboard cutouts featuring both Warren Buffett and Greg Abel playing hockey-a nod to Abel’s Canadian roots and love for the sport.

Simultaneously occurring, Brooks Running capitalized on shareholder enthusiasm by unveiling a limited-edition running shoe emblazoned with “Berkshire Hathaway” on its sides and insoles. Nearly 2,000 shareholders are expected to participate in Brooks’ “Invest in Yourself” 5K fun run scheduled for Sunday morning after the meeting concludes; this year features an updated course designed to offer fresh challenges for runners.
