Conquering the NYT Strands Puzzle: Tips, spangram Insights & Solutions

Exploring NYT Strands: Gameplay and Objectives

NYT Strands offers a novel spin on customary word search games, appearing daily on the NYT website and within the NYT Games app. Alongside hits like Wordle and Connections, it invites players to identify themed vocabulary hidden inside a letter grid.

The puzzle features a six-by-eight letter array where your mission is to locate several words linked by a shared concept.A hint provides insight into this common thread, helping you zero in on the correct answers. When you successfully find one of these theme words, it highlights in blue.

A standout element of Strands is its spangram-a special word that spans multiple edges of the board (though it may not necessarily start or finish there). This spangram reveals what ties all theme words together and shines yellow once uncovered.

You can create words by connecting letters vertically, horizontally, or diagonally-and even switch directions mid-word. Each letter is used only once across all theme terms including the spangram. On touch devices, double-tapping your last chosen letter submits your guess.

If you manage to find three valid non-theme words with at least four letters each, an unlocked hint button will assist by highlighting part of one themed word for easier progress.

Today’s Puzzle Hint: Decoding The Theme

Caution: Proceed carefully if you want to avoid spoilers! Below is today’s official clue for Saturday’s challenge:

“Bon appétit”

If that seems too vague, here’s an extra hint:

The puzzle contains exactly six thematic terms including one spangram that unlocks their connection.
